The AI for a Better Future initiative, founded in September 2024, is committed to harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to foster a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable world. Our mission is to ensure that AI is developed and deployed democratically, aiming to challenge existing power structures rather than reinforce them. On one side, we are focused on using AI to address critical societal challenges, from improving healthcare systems to empowering women and reducing inequalities. On the other, AI for a Better Future fosters AI literacy and seeks to democratize access to AI technologies, ensuring that their benefits reach everyone, particularly those historically left behind, including women, marginalized communities, and underserved populations with special needs.
At the core of our initiative is the belief that AI can be a transformative tool for societal betterment. We strive to align our work with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly gender equality (SDG 5), good health and well-being (SDG 3), reduced inequalities (SDG 10), quality education (SDG 4), and partnerships for the goals (SDG 17). Through targeted programs like AI GOES PINK, which focuses on empowering women, and the AI Academy, we aim to create solutions that drive positive social, economic, and environmental change.
We envision a world where AI is a force for global betterment—an inclusive and accessible tool that drives positive societal change. In the future, AI will be used to dismantle systemic inequalities, empower individuals, and build a more just, sustainable, and prosperous world for all. By developing AI-powered solutions in healthcare, education, and women’s empowerment, we aim to create a future where everyone benefits from the transformative potential of AI, contributing to long-term global progress in alignment with the SDGs.
This initiative, AI for A Better Future, was born thanks to a collaboration between Prof. Nevine Labib, Ph.D., Professor of Computer Science & Information Systems at the Sadat Academy for Management Sciences and Vice President of the Egyptian Society for Information Systems and Computer Technology, and Traces&Dreams. Together, we are dedicated to ensuring that AI becomes a tool for progress and empowerment, designed to drive societal betterment and contribute to more just, equitable, and sustainable futures.
In January 2025, Traces&Dreams also established a new department, the Global AI Impact Academy, led by Prof. Nevine Labib. This academy is committed to driving the mission and vision of AI for a Better Future forward by fostering global collaborations and empowering individuals and communities to leverage AI for sustainable and equitable societal advancement.
