Future Narratives is a transnational initiative involving youth organisations and stakeholders across Europe, co-funded by Erasmus+. Based on UNESCO’s concept of Futures Literacy, the capability to decide why and how to use our imagination to introduce the future into the present, the project provides young people with tools to rethink their past, navigate their present, and actively shape their future.

Developed from UNESCO’s concept of Futures Literacy—the capability to decide why and how to use our imagination to bring the future into the present— combined with narrative’s approaches developed by Traces&Dreams, the project introduces an innovative methodology that empowers young people to rethink their past, navigate their present, and actively shape their future. By combining Futures Literacy Labs with storytelling practices, Future Narratives equips youth with the tools to explore their identities, build resilience, and imagine sustainable, inclusive futures.

Future Narratives introduces young people and youth workers to the power of storytelling and Futures Literacy. Through training, workshops, and digital resources, participants explore how narrative shapes their lives and communities, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and a future-oriented mindset.

Our digital platform futurenarratives.eu shares the journey of the project, including the stories of young people, highlights from our webinars with experts, and resources exploring perspectives on storytelling and Futures Literacy. It hosts our project results: IO1: European Guidelines for the Innovative Use of Narrative and Storytelling in the Empowerment of Young People; and IO2 Future Narratives Information Innovative Pathways.
